The Ask
  • design a bilingual website that is a one-stop shop for information and events in social finance and innovation
  • apply for funding and contribute to the site by becoming a member
  • raise awareness and understanding of the IRP and social finance more broadly
  • have the site reflect the existing brand and be accessible, even from some remote areas

The Solution
  • established the information architecture of the website
  • sketched out and prototyped the more complex flows (ie. the submission of projects via a logged in account and the become a member sign up process)

Sketches – Account: Add a Project Flow (View Prototype)

Sign Up Flow

  • devised a flexible modular system to build out the pages and templates
  • developed a pattern library based on the existing IRP brand guidelines

Pattern Library (View Full)

  • collaborated with the developer to find ways of making the site more accessible (ie. falling back on system fonts, using lazy load and using placeholder images for lighter page loads)
  • created a fully responsive solution to ensure optimal user experiences even in low connection areas

The Impact
  • strengthened the IRP brand with a cohesive website visual identity
  • ensured full accessibility for users across Canada, including those in remote regions
  • enabled bilingual (English/French) event publishing, increasing reach and awareness
  • engaged with 15+ partners and 1,300+ members over 10 months
